Stars BBL penalised for slow over rate

February 19, 2019

The Melbourne Stars BBL squad has been penalised for a slow over rate in the KFC Big Bash League Final against the Melbourne Renegades at Marvel Stadium on Sunday 17 February 2019.
The Stars were found to be 9.5 minutes behind the scheduled time to complete their 20 overs, after allowances, equating to 2 overs short.
In accordance with the BBL Playing Conditions, each member of the playing XI was offered a $2000 fine.

While captain Glenn Maxwell received one strike for the incident, it does not carry forward to next season.

The Stars accepted this without appeal and their penalty was reduced to $1000 per player.
