Cricket Australia Statement

August 01, 2019

Mitchell Marsh was found guilty of a Level 1 Cricket Australia Code of Conduct breach on day two of the English Lions v Australia A tour match at Canterbury.

Marsh was found to have shown dissent under Cricket Australia’s Code of Conduct after being given out caught behind during Australia A’s first innings. He was fined 50% of his match payment, the maximum fine that could be applied for a Level 1 offence.

After being given out, Marsh gestured with his hands his disappointment before leaving the crease and on the way past the umpire said, “I’ve got nowhere near that,”. He later apologised unreservedly.

Upon review of the evidence provided by the umpires, match referee David Talalla considered the CA Code of Conduct and determined that Marsh had committed a level one offence for dissent at an umpire’s decision during a match.
