2015 National Performance Squad Announced

April 23, 2015

Cricket Australia (CA) has today announced the National Performance Squad for 2015 made up of players identified by national selectors as having the potential to play a significant role in Australian cricket.

The squad will take part in matches and training programs over the winter months, including:

  • A spin camp with world No 1 T20I bowler Samuel Badree from 18-22 May
  • Four one-day matches against the Australian Indigenous Squad from 6-14 July
  • Overseas playing and training opportunities in India, including with Glenn McGrath and his MRF pace program
  • Training opportunities with select Australian players ahead of their departure for the West Indies
  • Tour preparation ahead of the Australia A series in India and the U19 series in England in July

Bupa National Cricket Centre (NCC) Head Coach Troy Cooley, Cricket Australia National Talent Manager Greg Chappell and State Talent Managers also had input into the selection of the squad.

CA also announced the 2015 Hampshire scholars, to play club cricket in England funded through the Kerry Packer Foundation. The four players will be living in Southampton and train at the Elite International Cricket Academy at the Ageas Bowl in Hampshire.

Bupa NCC Head Coach Troy Cooley said: “The National Performance Squad is a broad group of players from our U19 and Australia A programs who we think have the potential to go on and make an impact in Australian cricket.

“The winter program at the state-of-the-art Bupa National Cricket Centre is a great opportunity for those in the National Performance Squad to develop their skills to the next level through individualised training at a world-class facility, game-based activities in varying conditions, match pressure and touring experience.

“The program also focuses on off-field development for the players, including coaching courses, career education and study opportunities.

“The Kerry Packer Foundation scholars selected to play in England are players we think will benefit from the self-reliant and self-starting opportunities of playing abroad as they continue to hone their significant cricketing talent and progress in their career,” Cooley said.
