Cricket Australia supports COVIDSafe App
April 30, 2020
Cricket Australia has thrown its support behind the Australian Government’s new contact tracing app - COVIDSafe which was released to the public over the weekend.
The COVIDSafe app will play a critical role in helping slow the spread of coronavirus which will mean governments can move more quickly to ease restrictions while still keeping communities safe.
Cricket Australia CEO Kevin Roberts said:
“We all want to return to a normal way of life, however we recognise restrictions need to be eased in a manner that protects our health and safety, and that the community feels confident that everything is in place for a return that doesn’t further risk our social and economic position.
“If adopted widely, there is no doubt we could see the easing of restrictions around social gatherings, people returning to work safely and resulting economic recovery.
“The Chief Medical Officer and other health service leaders could not have been clearer that this app is viewed as an essential tool to try to help get Australians out and about more freely and keep us all safe.”
Cricket Australia will continue to seek advice from medical experts and relevant government agencies to ensure the health and safety of our people, volunteers and communities and return to business as soon as possible.
