Cricket Australia (CA) welcomes today’s announcement from the Prime Minister regarding National Principles for the recommencement of community and professional sport, as agreed by National Cabinet.

CA will monitor how these principles are considered by each state and territory government and subsequent changes to restrictions.

As and when restrictions are lifted, CA will seek advice from medical experts including our own Chief Medical Officer, Dr. John Orchard, and relevant government agencies to support the cricket community with protocols and guidelines that allow community cricket to recommence as early and as safely as possible.

We will ensure that those coordinating and participating in community cricket matches, training, programs and events are provided with clear and sensible advice to protect the safety of all participants, volunteers and communities.

Cricket Australia will continue to work with government to prepare a comprehensive Biosecurity Plan to ensure we are as prepared as possible to deliver elite cricket content on Australian soil, including an exciting summer of cricket highlighted by the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 and the Border-Gavaskar Test series between Australia and India.
