Cricket launches new five-year strategy

Australian Cricket has launched its next five-year strategy (2017-2022), which provides direction for the sport around the country.

Our Vision is to be Australia’s favourite sport, a sport for all Australians. Our Purpose is to inspire everyone to love cricket.

The strategy applies to Cricket Australia and all eight state and territory cricket associations. It was developed through more than 12 months’ collaboration with all parts of cricket, from volunteers, coaches and club members through to players and administrators.

Australian Cricket Continues to Press For Progress

The ten organisations of Australian Cricket have released its third Press for Progress Report, continuing its commitment to bring a heightened level of transparency and accountability to cricket’s aspiration to become Australia’s leading sport for women and girls.

The design of this year’s report captures the energy of the record-breaking ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Final held at the MCG, representing the pinnacle of the greatest year in the history of the women’s elite game in Australia. The report also shares the challenges arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, and the need for ongoing focus if the bold targets set for 2022 are to be achieved.

Borne out of the Australian Cricket Strategy released in 2017, the report outlines and discusses how Australian cricket is performing in five key areas:

  1. Gender diversity in the Australian cricket workforce
  2. The development of a sustainable participation base
  3. The elite talent pathway
  4. Growth of women’s elite cricket
  5. Women and girls as fans
