Cricket Australia congratulates Queensland wicketkeeper Chris Hartley on an outstanding cricket career.
Hartley announced he will retire at the end of the season, after a 14-year career in Australian domestic cricket.
The 34-year-old holds the record for the most Sheffield Shield dismissals by any wicketkeeper in Australian cricket and the most runs by a wicketkeeper in Sheffield Shield history (5,963)
Hartley made his debut in the 2003-04 season and is Queensland’s most-capped ‘keeper.
Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland said:
“Chris has made a magnificent contribution to Australian and Queensland cricket, and he should be commended on a fine career.
“His commitment to domestic cricket has been exceptional. Chris’s reputation as a leader is well-known, and his exceptional record at one of our pinnacle venues, the Gabba, with both gloves and bat speaks for itself.
“We thank Chris for his service and the manner in which he has played his cricket, and wish him well for the remainder of the season and life beyond cricket.”
